CCBC is a mental healthcare provider based in Massachusetts. Founded in 1970, CCBC provides an array of services to children, adults, and families, including outpatient mental health services, outpatient substance abuse services, school-based services, in-community therapeutic services, mobile crisis intervention, rehabilitation and recovery, and community support services.3 Headquartered in Taunton, Massachusetts, CCBC has two additional locations in Massachusetts and employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, CCBC reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on May 20, 2024, CCBC detected that an unauthorized party obtained access to its network.1 As a result, CCBC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, on April 25, 2025, CCBC confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between May 18 and May 20, 2024. As a result, CCBC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Health insurance information
On May 19, 2025, CCBC began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, CCBC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
