WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Insight Partners announced that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on January 16, 2025, Insight Partners detected that an unauthorized third-party accessed certain Insight Partners information systems through a sophisticated social engineering attack.1 As a result, Insight Partners launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Insight Partners confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. After Insight Partners’ initial investigation, it announced that the impacted data may include certain fund, management company, and portfolio company information, banking and tax information, and certain personal information of current and former Insight Partners employees, as well as information related to its Limited Partners.1 Beyond this, Insight Partners does not elaborate on the type of information impacted in the breach.
On February 18 and May 6, 2025, Insight Partners posted information about the incident on its website. Additionally, Insight Partners plans to begin sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Insight Partners will be providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted.
