Founded in 2001, DRI Title & Escrow offers clients escrow and settlement options for a variety of closings, including purchasing and refinancing options.2 Additionally, DRI Title & Escrow provides services such as deed reports, credit checks, flood determinations, and recordation.2 Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, DRI Title & Escrow operates across six states in the Midwest with affiliates on a national level and employs over 50 individuals.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, DRI Title & Escrow reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on January 25, 2025, DRI Title & Escrow identified suspicious activity on their servers.1 As a result, DRI Title & Escrow launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, DRI Title & Escrow confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and taken by an unauthorized actor during the breach. As a result, DRI Title & Escrow began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by DRI Title & Escrow. However, according to Maine state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or state identification card number
- Account number, credit card number or debit card number, if circumstances exist wherein such a number could be used without additional identifying information, access codes or passwords
- Account passwords or personal identification numbers or other access codes
On May 20, 2025, DRI Title & Escrow began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, DRI Title & Escrow is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
