WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, YNHHS announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive identifiable patient information in its care may have been accessed.1 According to the breach notice, on March 8, 2025, YNHHS became aware of suspicious activity affecting their IT servers.1 As a result, YNHHS launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, YNHHS confirmed that sensitive patient information in their network belonging to patients may have been copied and obtained by an unauthorized third party.1 As a result, YNHHS began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify specific individuals affected. While the information taken varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially at risk includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Patient type
- Medical record number
On April 11, 2025, YNHHS released a statement announcing that patient information may have been compromised and taken. Based on the breach notice posted to their website, YNHHS is mailing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.
