Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating CSG Consultants (“CSG”) regarding its recent data breach. The CSG data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.
ABOUT CSG CONSULTANTS:
CSG is an employee-owned engineering firm based in California. Since its establishment in 1991, CSG has furnished comprehensive municipal services solely to public agencies, offering part-time and full-time staffing resources specializing in building plan review and inspection, fire prevention, civil and structural design, development and map review, construction management, planning, code enforcement, sustainability program support, and information technology services.3 Headquartered in Foster City, California, CSG has six additional locations in California and employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, CSG announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, in August 2024, CSG identified suspicious network activity. 1 As a result, CSG launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, CSG confirmed that sensitive personal information within these systems belonging to patients may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, CSG began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On February 28, 2025, CSG completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
As a result of the data breach, CSG posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on March 20, 2025, CSG began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, CSG is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
