Claris Vision Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Claris Vision Holdings, LLC, and affiliate partners Eye Health Associates Inc., Eye Health Associates of RI Inc., Koch Eye Associates LLP, Candescent Eye Surgicenter LLC dba St. James Surgery Center, and Candescent Eye Health Surgicenter LLC dba Greater New Bedford Surgery Center (collectively “Claris Vision”), regarding its recent data breach. The Claris Vision data breach may have involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an unknown number of individuals.

ABOUT CLARIS VISION HOLDINGS, LLC:

Claris Vision is a healthcare company based in Massachusetts. Originally Candescent Eye Holdings LLC, Claris Vision took its new name in 2014.2 With various affiliate partners, Claris Vision operates predominantly as Eye Health Vision Centers and Koch Eye Associates.3,4 Services Claris Vision companies offer include eye exams, laser vision correction, glaucoma and cataracts treatments, oculoplastics, and more.3,4 Headquartered in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Claris Vision’s partners total thirteen locations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.3,4

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Claris Vision reported to the Attorney General of The Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed.

Through its investigation into the breach, Claris Vision confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between July 10 and August 5, 2024.1 As a result, Claris Vision began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On December 18, 2024, Claris Vision completed its review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Medical records
  • Credit and/or debit card numbers

 

On February 14, 2025, Claris Vision began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Claris Vision is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
