WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, KraftCPAs reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, after detecting unusual activity on its network and launching an investigation, KraftCPAs found evidence that some KraftCPAs files were accessed by an unauthorized actor.1 Beyond this, the KraftCPAs breach notice does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Driver’s license number
As a result of the data breach, KraftCPAs began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
