WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Mizuno USA reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on November 6, 2024, Mizuno USA identified suspicious activity on certain network systems.1 As a result, Mizuno USA launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Mizuno USA confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and copied by an unauthorized third party between August 21 and October 29, 2024. As a result, Mizuno USA began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information
On January 30, 2025, Mizuno USA began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Maine residents, Mizuno USA is providing affected individuals with a list of the information impacted and 12 months of complimentary identity monitoring services.
