WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, LifeBridge Health announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on November 12, 2024, LifeBridge Health determined that an unauthorized third party accessed a limited number of employees’ email accounts.1 As a result, LifeBridge Health launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, LifeBridge Health confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party between August 27, 2024, and September 21, 2024. As a result, LifeBridge Health began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Medical information (e.g., dates of service, medical record numbers, treatment information)
- Health insurance claim numbers
On January 10, 2025, LifeBridge Health posted a notice of the incident on its website. On the same day, LifeBridge Health began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, LifeBridge Health is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.
