WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Arthur Center discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. On November 21, 2024, East Central Missouri Behavioral Health Services, Inc. filed official notice of the data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights. Though much information is still not known about the Arthur Center breach, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ reporting guidelines require entities to report data breaches when they involve protected health information. Therefore, it is likely that the Arthur Center breach included the protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals. As a result of the data breach, Arthur Center may soon begin notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted.
