Founded in 1973, Misionero is a leader in the organic specialty salad category.2 Today, Misionero grows, harvests, produces, and packages high-quality, packaged salads and leafy greens grown year-round.2 Additionally, Misionero produces products sold under the Earth Greens Organic and Garden Life labels.2 Headquartered in Gonzales, California, Misionero has additional locations in California, Arizona, and Maryland, and employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Misionsero reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on September 27, 2024, Misionero became aware of suspicious activity within its network. As a result, Misionero launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Misionero confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third-party between September 26 and September 27, 2024. As a result, Misionero began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
On November 11, 2024, Misionero began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice mailed to California residents, Misionero is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring.
