WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, DeAngelus Group reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or around July 8, 2024, DeAngelus Group learned that an unauthorized third-party gained access to its email system.1 As a result, DeAngelus Group launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, DeAngelus Group confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized individual during the incident. As a result, DeAngelus Group began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Financial account number
On October 23, 2024, DeAngelus Group began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, DeAngelus Group is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
