Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Hyperion Solutions (“Hyperion”), regarding its recent data breach. The Hyperion data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Hyperion is an elevator solutions company based in Tennessee. As a unified group of integrated brands, Hyperion designs, manufactures, and services parts for the installation, modernization, and maintenance of both commercial and residential elevators.2 Today, Hyperion’s products and services include mechanical equipment, repair services, and digital solutions for elevator movement, management, and safety.2 Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Hyperion employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Hyperion reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, earlier this year Hyperion became aware of suspicious activity within an email account in its environment. As a result, Hyperion launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Hyperion discovered that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party using an employee’s email account between January 17, 2024, and February 27, 2024. As a result, Hyperion began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On August 5, 2024, Hyperion completed this review. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Hyperion. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or other government identification number
- Account number, credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to an individual’s financial account
On October 25, 2024, Hyperion began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, Hyperion is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
