Hunter Buildings Data Breach Investigation

Founded in 1999, Hunter’s blast-resistant modules, forced entry and ballistic-resistant buildings, and related protective structures are engineered to keep team members and critical equipment safe in extreme scenarios.2 Additionally, Hunter offers a range of customizable modular buildings for companies looking for all the benefits modular construction offers — but whose work doesn’t require blast-resistant protection.2 Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Hunter has manufacturing, sales, and rental facilities across multiple continents and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On October 9, 2024, Hunter reported to the Attorney General of Texas that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. As of October 10, 2024, details of the breach have not been made publicly available by Hunter. While not much is known about the breach, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Driver’s license number
  • Government issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID card)
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
