WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, OsteoRemedies reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, OsteoRemedies became aware of the incident after phishing emails were sent from an employee’s email account without their knowledge.1 As a result, OsteoRemedies launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, OsteoRemedies learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized individual using the employee’s email account during the incident. As a result, OsteoRemedies began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit of debit card number)
  • Medical information

On October 7, 2024, OsteoRemedies began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, OsteoRemedies is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted.
