Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating The Gill Corporation (“TGC”) regarding its recent data breach. The TGC data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 3,000 individuals.

TGC is a manufacturer of high performance composite materials and products.3 Founded in 1945, TGC offered products include honeycomb, sandwich panels, cargo compartment liners, specialty laminates, 3-, 5-, 6-axis CNC machined parts, and fabricated assemblies.3 creating for the aerospace and advanced composites industries, among others, TGC has qualified its products with companies such as Airbus, AVIC, Boeing/Douglas, and Northrop Grumman.2 Headquartered in El Monte, California, TGC has global locations in France and the UK and employs over 500 individuals.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, TGC reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed or acquired. According to the breach notice, TGC recently learned that an unauthorized third party compromised its systems and encrypted many files and backup systems. As a result, TGC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, TGC learned that sensitive personal information in its systems was viewed and obtained by an unauthorized actor on or around June 23, 2024. As a result, TGC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Diver’s license number
- Bank account numbers
- Previous W-2s
As a result of the data breach, TGC began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals on September 16, 2024. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, TGC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
