Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Statewide Aquastore, Inc. (“Statewide”) regarding its recent data breach. The Statewide data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an unknown number of individuals.

ABOUT STATEWIDE AQUASTORE, INC.:

Statewide is a liquid storage solution company based in New York. Founded in 1980, Statewide supplies, constructs, and services AQUASTORE® water and wastewater storage tanks.2 Its advanced glass-fused-to-steel coating system has helped Statewide set the industry standard in private and public sectors, as well as for Municipal and Industrial applications.2 Headquartered in East Syracuse, New York, Statewide serves 8 states and employes over 20 individuals.2

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Statewide reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, Statewide was recently made aware of a cybersecurity event at a third-party provider, Arete Advisors, LLC (“Arete”), which reviews data to identify and summarize the information contained within.1 Statewide learned of an email sent from an unknown individual to certain individuals containing information in Arete’s care.1 As a result, Statewide launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Statewide learned that sensitive personal information was disclosed by the unauthorized individual in the form of an attachment to the email. As a result, Statewide began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number

On September 5, 2024, Statewide began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Attorney General of New Hampshire, Statewide is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services. A link to the form breach notification letter that Statewide filed with the Attorney General of New Hampshire is below.
