Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Kerber, Eck & Braeckel LLP (“KEB”) regarding its recent data breach. The KEB data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, KEB announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on February 7, 2023, KEB identified suspicious activity on its network systems. As a result, KEB launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, KEB learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and taken by an unauthorized third party between January 27, 2023, and February 7, 2023. As a result, KEB began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Financial account information
- Medical information (e.g., diagnosis, diagnosis code, mental/physical condition, prescription information, providers name and location)
- Health insurance information (including but not limited to beneficiary number, subscriber number, Medicaid/Medicare identification)
- Billing and claims information (including but not limited to patient account number, patient identification number, treatment cost information)
On March 17, 2023, KEB began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Since then, KEB has mailed additional letters containing updated information. Based on the breach notice on its website, KEB is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
