Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Tobin, Carberry, O’Malley, Riley & Selinger, P.C. (“TCORS”) regarding its recent data breach. The TCORS data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 21,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, TCORS reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on November 30, 2023, TCORS detected suspicious activity on its computer network. As a result, TCORS launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, TCORS learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized actor. As a result, TCORS began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Bank account information
- Medical information (e.g., diagnosis and treatment information, medical history)
- Health insurance information
- Medicaid or other government benefit information
On June 14, 2024, TCORS began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Additionally, TCORS service partner, Yale New Haven Health, was impacted by this breach and sent out notice letters of its own to impacted patients on July 19, 2024. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, TCORS is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
