WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Findlay reported to the Attorney General of Montana that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on June 7, 2024, Findlay discovered unauthorized activity within its network environment. As a result, Findlay launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Findlay learned that sensitive personal information may have been viewed or taken from its network. As a result, Findlay began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport number
  • Employment related information

On July 19, 2024, Findlay mailed a general data breach notification letter to impacted individuals. Then on July 25, 2024, Findlay sent updated and location specific notification letters to individuals working at the Findlay Honda Henderson and Findlay Land Rover Las Vegas. Based on the breach notice sent to Montana residents, Findlay is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
