Acadian Ambulance Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Acadian Ambulance Service, Inc. (“Acadian Ambulance”) regarding its recent data breach. The Acadian Ambulance data breach may have involved sensitive personal protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.  

ABOUT ACADIAN AMBULANCE SERVICE, INC.:

Acadian Ambulance is a medical care and transportation service based in Louisiana.  Founded in 1971, Acadian Ambulance offers emergency and non-emergency transport, special services, at-home healthcare, air services, medical education, offshore and industrial health services, and medical alert systems. Today, Acadian Ambulance provides care to more than 21 million residents and covers 62,000 square miles across four states.2 With a fleet of 500 ambulances, Acadian Ambulance transports almost 600,000 annually and travels 38 million miles each year, enough to circumnavigate the earth 4.2 times each day.2 Headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana, Acadian Ambulance has locations in Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi, and employs over 1,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Acadian Ambulance released a report that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the form breach report, Acadian Ambulance detected unauthorized activity within its network that disrupted certain computer systems in late June 2024. After locking down its systems to prevent further unauthorized activity, Acadian Ambulance launched an investigation into the nature of the incident. While Acadian Ambulance has not revealed the exact type of personal information potentially exposed, the company revealed that an unauthorized third party was able to gain access to a server containing personal protected health information.

As of July 26, 2024, Acadian Ambulance’s investigation remains ongoing. However, according to the report, Acadian Ambulance will notify impacted individuals once its review of the breach is complete. A link to the form breach report that Acadian Ambulance released is below.
