WHAT HAPPENED?
On March 25, 2024, HealthEquity became aware of unusual activity in its systems. Through an investigation, HealthEquity discovered unauthorized access to and possible disclosure of protected health information and/or personally identifiable information in a data repository outside its main systems. On June 25, 2024, HealthEquity determined the individuals that were impacted and confirmed the involvement of personal information. HealthEquity filed a report with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 2nd, 2024, and began mailing individuals on July 26, 2024. The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name;
- Social Security number;
- Address; and
- Health insurance information, such as employee ID, employer, health plan member number, and dependent contact information.
