WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Affirm discovered that its financial technology partner, Evolve Bank and Trust (“Evolve”) had experienced a data breach in which an unauthorized third party gained access to portions of its information environment. Recently, Affirm posted a notice of the breach on its website saying, “Evolve Bank disclosed that it suffered a cybersecurity incident in which a cybercriminal organization illegally accessed and obtained some personal information of Evolve retail bank customers and those of its financial technology partners, which includes Affirm.”1 As of July 3, 2024, neither Affirm nor Evolve has disclosed the specific type of data that was impacted in this data breach.
