Penske Automotive Group Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Penske Automotive Group, Inc. (“PAG”) regarding its recent cybersecurity incident. PAG is a diversified international transportation services company and an automotive and commercial truck retailer.2 Today, PAG operates dealerships principally in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and Italy and is one of the largest retailers of commercial trucks in North America for Freightliner.2 Additionally, PAG owns Premier Truck Group, who offers a wide range of new and used commercial vehicles, including Freightliner, Western Star, and Isuzu trucks.  Currently, PAG owns 28.9% of Penske Transportation Solutions, a business that manages a fleet of over 431,000 trucks, tractors, and trailers providing innovative transportation, supply chain, and technology solutions to North American fleets.2 Headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, PAG has locations in North and Latin America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, and employs over 10,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 19, 2024, PAG was informed that its third-party vendor, CDK Global, LLC (“CDK), had experienced a cybersecurity incident that impacted its Premier Truck Group business. In response, PAG began an investigation to determine the nature of scope of the incident. On June 19, 2024, PAG reported the incident in a Form 8-K filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. As of its filing, PAG’s investigation is ongoing and whether personal information has been exposed has not been made publicly available.
