Arlington Skin Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Dr. Michelle A. Rivera, MD, which does business as Arlington Skin, regarding its recent data breach. Dr. Michelle A. Rivera is a board certified dermatologist. Dr. Rivera’s dermatology practice, Arlington Skin, is located on the campus of Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia, outside of Washington D.C. Arlington Skin offers a full range of dermatology services, including cosmetic medical enhancement, treatment programs, and aesthetic services.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On or around October 31, 2021, a vendor of Dr. Michelle A. Rivera, MD d/b/a Arlington Skin, Virtual Private Network Solutions, LLC, discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information of Arlington Skin’s patients may have been accessed. Virtual Private Network Solutions, LLC, which does business as VPN Solutions, manages electronic patient records for Arlington Skin. On July 8, 2022, Arlington Skin began notifying patients whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Diagnostic and treatment information
  • Health insurance information
