WHAT HAPPENED?
On July 29, 2022, Whitworth University discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and obtained. Through its investigation, Whitworth University determined that unauthorized actors may have accessed and acquired this information by launching a ransomware attack. On October 4, 2022, Whitworth University began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Passport number
- Health insurance information
