The FISC data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

FISC is a financial services company that specializes in data processing and information services. As a bank service corporation, FISC works primarily as a cooperative with banks as an extension of their back-office staff. Specifically, FISC offers services in workload management, nightly processing, release installs, system maintenance, year-end processing, and keeping banks up to date on evolving technologies.4 Originally founded in 1969 as First National Computer Center, a fully owned subsidiary of First National Bank, the FISC of today was created in 1994 as the result of a merger between First National Bank and Hibernia National Bank.4 After the merger, FISC was acquired by the six banks utilizing its services and converted into the bank service corporation it remains today.4 Headquartered in West Monroe, Louisiana, FISC works with over 60 banks in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas, and employs over 65 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On May 31, 2023, FISC discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, FISC determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform between May 30 and 31, 2023. On September 22, 2023, FISC began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Financial information (e.g., financial account number and credit and/or debit card number)
