WHAT HAPPENED?

On May 4, 2022, Mount Desert Island Hospital discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Mount Desert Island Hospital determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between April 28 and May 7, 2023. On June 30, 2023, Mount Desert Island Hospital began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial account information
  • Medical record number
  • Health insurance information
  • Medical treatment information
