Ryders Health Management Data Breach Investigation

Founded in 1997, Ryders Health Management provides rehabilitation and nursing services at 8 Connecticut locations—Aaron Manor, Chesire House, Greentree Manor, Lord Chamberlain, Bel-Air Manor, Douglas Manor, Mystic Healthcare, and Ryders Rehabilitation. Headquartered in Stratford, Connecticut, Ryders Health Management employs over 500 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 9, 2023, Ryders Health Management discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Ryders Health Management determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack on July 29, 2023. On September 7, 2023, Ryders Health Management began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed include:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Medical information (e.g., date(s) of services, medical record number, identification numbers, care plan, provider and facility name, medications and lab results, and diagnostic and treatment information)
  • Health insurance information
