Founded in 2001, PokerStars has grown to serve over 15,000 players concurrently and employs approximately 2,100 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 2, 2023, PokerStars discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, PokerStars determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform used by PokerStars between May 30 and May 31, 2023. On July 20, 2023, PokerStars began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
