WHAT HAPPENED?
On December 19, 2023, Sage Home Loans discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Sage Home Loans determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information between December 5 and December 19, 2023. On February 2, 2024, Sage Home Loans began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Sage Home Loans. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license, State ID card, tax ID, passport or military ID number
- Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
