DePauw University is a private university located in Greencastle, Indiana. Founded in 1837 as Indiana Asbury University, DePauw University was renamed in 1884 in honor of W. C. Today, DePauw University offers over 75 majors, minors, and programs across a range of academic disciplines, with an emphasis on liberal arts. Over 100 clubs and organizations, a prominent Greek life, athletics, and performing arts are all a part of DePauw University’s campus life.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On October 31, 2023, DePauw University discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, DePauw University determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this information from an internal file server containing employee benefits information. On November 22, 2023, DePauw University began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Employer identification number
