Taylor University is a private, Christian liberal arts university located in Upland, Indiana. WHAT HAPPENED?
In May 2023, Taylor University discovered that it had experienced a ransomware attack that impacted its systems. Through its investigation, Taylor University determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed sensitive personal information between February 26, 2023, and May 18, 2023. On December 4, 2023, Taylor University began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted by the breach. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Taylor University. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number and/or state identification card number
- Financial account information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card in combination with security code, password, or access code)
