Founded in 1974, GPEC provides legal services to clients across a range of practice areas, including litigation, business matters, tax planning, estate planning, personal injury, commercial law, real estate law, divorce, and more.2 Headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, GPEC employs over 10 individuals and provides services to residents and business owners in both Tennessee and Georgia.2,3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, GPEC reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on April 24, 2025, GPEC became aware of potential unauthorized access to its systems.1 As a result, GPEC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, GPEC confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, GPEC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On February 12, 2026, GPEC completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:1,4
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Government-issued ID number (passport, state ID card)
- Financial information (account number, credit or debit card number)
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
On March 16, 2026, GPEC began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, GPEC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
