Founded in 1980, RSE provides a range of legal and claims management services to insurance companies and corporation, including litigation, liability defense, product liability claim resolutions, crisis management contingency plans, client seminars, and more.2,3 Companies represented by RSE include Liberty Mutual, 3M, LG, Toshiba, Mitsubishi International Corporation, Panasonic, Pizza Hut, and Zurich.2 Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, RSE employs over 10 individuals.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, RSE announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on August 23, 2025, RSE was advised that there may have been access to its network by an unauthorized individual.1 As a result, RSE launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, RSE confirmed that sensitive personal information in its network may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, RSE began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On February 3, 2026, RSE completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Date of birth
- Governmental identification number
- State identification number
- Financial account information
- Health insurance information
- Medical information
On March 6, 2026, RSE posted notice of the breach on its website. Additionally, on March 4, 2026, began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, RSE is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
