Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Emanuel Medical Center (“Emanuel”) regarding its recent data breach. The Emanuel data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Emanuel announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on May 22, 2025, Emanuel detected suspicious activity on its systems.1 As a result, Emanuel launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Emanuel confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between May 21 and May 24, 2025. As a result, Emanuel began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Contact information
- Driver’s license number
- Health insurance information
- Patient identification number
- Medical information (dates of service, provider names, diagnosis, treatment information, prescriptions, medical history, lab reports)
On February 17, 2026, Emanuel posted notice of the breach on its website. Based on the website breach notice, Emanuel is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted. A link to the website breach notice is below.
