WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Cedar Point announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on or about June 16, 2025, Cedar Point detected unauthorized access to its network.1 As a result, Cedar Point launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
In the breach notice provided on its website, Cedar Point does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. In response to the breach, Cedar Point began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or state-issued identification number
- Passport number
- Individual taxpayer identification number
- Date of birth
- Financial account information
- Medical information (medical treatment, diagnosis, procedure information, clinical information)
- Health insurance information
As a result of the breach, Cedar Point posted notice of the breach on its website. Based on the website breach notice, Cedar Point is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
