Venezia is a trucking and transportation company based in Pennsylvania. Founded in 1967, Venezia specializes in transporting niche dry and liquid bulk products such as dry bulk cement, dry food, fly ash, liquid asphalt, propane, motor oils, and lubricants throughout the US and Canada.2,3 Today, Venezia has over 700 trucks, 1,800 trailers, and 19 terminal locations across 10 states.2 Headquartered in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Venezia employs over 800 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Venezia reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, in 2025 Venezia experienced unauthorized access to its network.1 As a result, Venezia launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Venezia confirmed that sensitive personal information in its network may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between August 5 and August 13, 2025. As a result, Venezia began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Venezia. However, according to Maine state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or state identification card number
- Account number, credit card number or debit card number, if circumstances exist wherein such a number could be used without additional identifying information, access codes or passwords
- Account passwords or personal identification numbers or other access codes
On January 22, 2026, Venezia began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Venezia is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
