Komar is a waste handling equipment manufacturer based in Ohio. Founded in 1977, Komar manufactures a range of waste handling equipment, including auger compacters, shredders, flatteners, organic separation presses, continuous feed systems, and more.2,3 Applications for waste handling equipment made by Komar include breaking down or handling wood, trash, cardboard, e-waste, bottles and cans, furniture, etc.2 Headquartered in Groveport, Ohio, Komar employs over 50 individuals.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Komar reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, Komar identified unusual activity in its network.1 As a result, Komar launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Komar confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between September 12 and September 15, 2025. As a result, Komar began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account number
- Passport number
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
On December 30, 2025, Komar [began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, Komar is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
