Founded in 2012, Phillips provides a range of storage tank construction services to petroleum, power, chemical, and renewable fuel industries.2,3,4 Services offered by Phillips include designing, engineering, repairing, and constructing above-ground metal storage tanks and related structures, such as welded tanks, bolted tanks, and geodesic domes.4 Headquartered in Braddock, Pennsylvania, Phillips employs over 10 individuals and operates four additional offices across Texas, Hawaii, Kentucky, and California.2,3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Phillips reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on September 28, 2025, Phillips detected potentially suspicious activity on a limited portion of its computer network.1 As a result, Phillips launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Phillips confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between September 26 and September 28, 2025. As a result, Phillips began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Bank account and routing number
- Driver’s license or state ID number
On November 21, 2025, Phillips began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, Phillips is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
