Founded in 1960, Jack’s manages a chain of restaurants which feature menu items such as chicken tenders, salads, hamburgers, shakes, breakfast sandwiches, and more.2,3,4 Headquartered in Homewood, Alabama, Jack’s employs over 5,000 individuals and operates over 200 locations in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Jack’s reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 10, 2025, Jack’s became aware of suspicious activity on a cloud-based platform utilized to store certain information about current and former employees.1 As a result, Jack’s launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Jack’s confirmed that the sensitive personal information in the cloud-based platform may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party between July 24 and August 10, 2025.1 As a result, Jack’s began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On September 25, 2025, Jack’s completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On October 21, 2025, Jack’s began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice being sent to Maine residents, Jack’s is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the letters that Jack’s filed with the Attorney General of Maine is below.
