Montgomery Little & Soran Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Montgomery Little & Soran, PC (“Montgomery Little”) regarding its recent data breach. The Montgomery Little data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 8,900 individuals.

ABOUT MONTGOMERY LITTLE & SORAN, PC:

Montgomery Little is a law firm based in Colorado. Founded in 1965, Montgomery Little provides legal services to business, financial, insurance, and individual clients across four core areas: business law, family law, civil litigation, and real estate.3 Litigation matters handled by Montgomery Little include construction claims, business disputes, real estate disputes, legal malpractice defense, eminent domain proceedings, employment matters, and personal injuries.3 Headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, Montgomery Little employs over 20 individuals.3,4

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Montgomery Little reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on February 28, 2025, Montgomery Little became aware of unusual activity that disrupted access to certain IT systems within its network.1 As a result, Montgomery Little launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Montgomery Little confirmed that the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach.1 As a result, Montgomery Little began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. As of October 10, 2025, the type of information impacted in the breach has not been made publicly available by Montgomery Little.¹ However, according to Maine state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number or State ID card number
  • Account number or credit or debit card number
  • Account passwords, PINs, and other access codes

On October 9, 2025, Montgomery Little began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice being sent to Maine residents, Montgomery Little is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the letters that Montgomery Little filed with the Attorney General of Maine is below.
