WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Seward & Monde reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on September 2, 2025, Seward & Monde, the auditor of the TIAA-CREF Retirement Plan for All Employees of Berkshire School, identified unusual activity on one employee’s email account.1 As a result, Seward & Monde launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Seward & Monde confirmed that the sensitive personal information in the affected email account may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach.1 As a result, Seward & Monde began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
On October 3, 2025, Seward & Monde began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice being sent to New Hampshire residents, Seward & Monde is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the letters that Seward & Monde filed with the Attorney General of New Hampshire is below.
