WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Methodist Homes announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on October 14, 2024, Methodist Homes discovered suspicious activity in its network.1 As a result, Methodist Homes launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Methodist Homes confirmed that the sensitive personal information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized third party between October 2 and October 14, 2024.1 As a result, Methodist Homes began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state ID number
  • Health insurance numbers
  • Medical information (medical record number, medical history, diagnosis and treatment, patient numbers, Medicaid/Medicare numbers, dates of discharge)
  • Date of birth

 

As a result of the breach, Methodist Homes posted notice of the data breach to its website. Additionally, on October 3, 2025, Methodist Homes began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Methodist Homes is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the website breach notice is below.
