Today, Pioneer Cold provides temperature-controlled supply chain services, including warehousing, transportation, inventory management, and consolidation.3 Headquartered in Chicopee, Massachusetts, Pioneer Cold employs over 50 individuals. 3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Pioneer Cold reported to the Attorney General of Vermont and the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, Pioneer Cold recently experienced unauthorized access to its network and email tenant.1 As a result, Pioneer Cold launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Pioneer Cold confirmed that sensitive personal information in its system and emails may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between January 9 and February 6, 2025. As a result, Pioneer Cold began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 28, 2025, Pioneer Cold completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s License number
- Financial account
As a result of the breach, Pioneer Cold began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, Pioneer Cold is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
