Inotiv is a pharmaceutical research company based in Indiana. Founded in 1974 as Bioanalytical Systems, Inc., Inotiv was formed in a 2018 merger with Seventh Wave.2 Today, Inotiv researches areas such as general toxicology, histology, pathology, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK), consulting, research models & services, and teklad diet and bedding.2 Headquartered in West Lafayette, Indiana, Inotiv employs over 1,000 individuals.3

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 8, 2025, Inotiv became aware of a cybersecurity incident affecting certain of its systems and data.1 In response, Inotiv initiated containment measures and launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident. On August 18, 2025, Inotiv reported the incident in a Form 8-K filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.1 According to the filing, the cybersecurity incident has caused disruptions to certain Inotiv business operations, including access to portions of internal data storage and certain internal business applications, and the timeline for a full restoration is not yet known.1 As of August 19, 2025, Inotiv’s investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been made publicly available by Inotiv.
