ABOUT CONNEX CREDIT UNION:
Connex is a financial services company in Connecticut. Founded in 1940, Connex offers credit union membership to anyone who lives, works, attends school, or worships in New Haven, Hartford, Middlesex, or Fairfield counties.2 Today, Connex’s services include accounts and credit cards for both individuals and businesses, as well as loans and insurance for individuals.3 Headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, Connex has over $1 billion in assets and serves over 70,000 members across eight branches.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 7, 2025, Connex reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice on June 3, 2025, Connex experience unusual activity in its cyber environment. 1 As a result, Connex launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Connex determined that an unauthorized third party accessed or downloaded files between June 2 and June 3, 2025.1 As a result, Connex began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The sensitive personal information potentially affected includes the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Account number
- Government ID used to open the account
On August 6, 2025, Connex began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, Connex is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the form breach notification letters that Connex filed with the Attorney General of California is below.
