Palomar Insurance Data Breach Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 24, 2025, Palomar Insurance announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised.1 According to the breach notice posted on its website, on October 23, 2024, Palomar Insurance discovered unusual activity when a threat actor attempted to access it’s network without authorization.As a result, Palomar Insurance launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Palomar Insurance confirmed that sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. 1 As a result, Palomar Insurance began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On June 17, 2025, Palomar Insurance concluded its investigation.  According to the breach notice, the sensitive personal information potentially affected includes the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Drivers’ License
  • Username/Password
  • Insurance Provider and Policy Number

 

As a result of the data breach, Palomar Insurance began providing notice to impacted individuals. Based on the notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Palomar Insurance is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.4 A link to the breach report filed by the Attorney General of Massachusetts is below.
