WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Denali Biomedical discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. On June 27, 2025, Denali Biomedical filed official notice of the data breach with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights. 1 Though much information is still not known about the Denali Biomedical breach, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ reporting guidelines require entities to report data breaches when they involve protected health information. Therefore, it is likely that the Denali Biomedical breach included the protected health information belonging to over 2,400 individuals. As a result of the data breach, Denali Biomedical may soon begin notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted.
