WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, online sources reported that Kentfield Hospital had experienced a cyberattack resulting in a data breach. According to these reports, a hacker group has claimed responsibility for exfiltrating 146.4 GB of data, consisting of 140,683 files, from Kentfield Hospital’s systems.1 Although the data has not yet been publicly leaked, the online source reviewed a sample of the data and confirmed that it contained personal and protected health information belonging to Kentfield Hospital patients, such as dates of birth, medical record numbers, financial record numbers, diagnoses, medications, care, test results, and more.1
Additionally, the exposed data reportedly included more than 28,000 image files depicting patients’ names and portions of their anatomy, captured to document wound care or other treatment issues. The data set also allegedly contains hundreds of files related to patients’ health insurance and billing information.1 As of July 9, 2025, Kentfield Hospital has not commented on or confirmed whether it has suffered a data breach.
